Philosophy of Care
Dr. Hereld approaches patient care with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to understanding each individual’s unique strengths and challenges. She works closely with patients, families, and multidisciplinary medical teams to translate neuropsychological findings into clear guidance that supports treatment decisions and everyday functioning. She is committed to culturally responsive care and to strengthening brain health in the communities she serves.
Clinical Interests
Dr. Hereld provides neuropsychological evaluation for children and adults with neurological and neurosurgical conditions. She has particular clinical expertise in epilepsy, movement disorders, stroke, and brain tumor, and works within the UC Davis Health Comprehensive Epilepsy Program conducting pre- and post-surgical neuropsychological evaluations, Wada procedures, and intra-operative and extra-operative language mapping.
Research/Academic Interests
Dr. Hereld’s research focuses on emotional functioning in neurological illness, particularly in the context of neurosurgical care and neuromodulation. Her work explores novel rehabilitation approaches for neurological conditions, including the use of music and creative engagement in supporting emotion regulation, communication, and quality of life. She also collaborates on interdisciplinary research examining the role of the arts in health through a National Endowment for the Arts research initiative.
