Ming is extraordinary in her dedication and compassion especially in the care of this one particular patient. Ming was the assigned Primary Nurse for a Davis 12 patient who has been in the unit since March 2019 until his passing in September 2019. The patient was very ill with a complicated case, with bouts of multiple infections and complications. His care required a lot of nursing time and high acuity tasks. The patient barely spoke English and was showing signs of depression-not eating, not speaking, just lying in bed and was asking for his diagnosis not to be shared with his parents and other family members. Ming was very thorough in her care and advocated for everything that she thought would help the patient medically and emotionally. Ming spoke the patient's language and it is only with Ming that the patient speaks. Ming gets him up to the wheelchair every time and takes him outside to get some fresh air, this is despite her busy shift. She devotes a lot of her time in the care of this patient. She has cooked fried rice for him when he mentioned he craves fried rice and brought it to him from home. She has brought him mooncake when he wanted to eat mooncake, brought him food that she thinks he will eat. It was obvious how this patient trusts and relies on Ming for care and emotional support. On the day of his passing, when he clearly chose to forego of heroic measures, Ming was on her day off and was on her way to bring patient some food since the day before, he verbalized not feeling well. The patient has passed when Ming got to the unit. Ming's dedication and compassion continues to the care of the patient's family. Ming was at the bedside consoling and supporting the patient's parents. Ming made phone calls for them to assist in looking for mortuary care. The parents have difficulty in speaking English. Ming was there to provide assurance and answer their questions. Up to the very end, Ming was there for this patient.
