Ambulatory Practice and Regulatory Compliance
Ambulatory Operations has a full complement of facilities and services which includes 40 hospital-based clinics and 25 medical practices located across the greater Sacramento region. The division oversees complex care delivery in infusion centers, gastroenterology procedure labs, imaging centers, and neuroscience and sleep labs. Ambulatory also offers a vast array of virtual care through office based primary care and specialty telehealth video visits, eConsults. and extended hours telehealth express care.
Ms. Woods is responsible for administration of nursing practice and standards of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, medical assistants and technician practice within Ambulatory Operations. Her responsibility and clinical oversight include the clinical staff’s competency, training and development as well as monitoring and the provisions of patient care, policies and procedures, standards of infection control, disaster and emergency preparedness and compliance to The Joint Commission Standards, and other state and federal regulatory bodies. In addition, she also oversees a temporary float pool of 100 clinical and clerical staff supporting the clinics with short- and long-term coverage needs

Cardiology and Specialty Clinic
UC Davis' Cardiology Clinic and Cardiac Rehabilitation program provides comprehensive, innovative, and quality care for patients with heart conditions including coronary heart disease, heart valve disease (structural), heart failure (advanced cardiac therapies), heart rhythm disorders (arrhythmias), and risk factor reduction. Together our team of physicians, physician assistant, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, device technicians, medical assistants, and clerical staff strive daily to exceed patient expectations for exceptional care. Our program is nationally recognized for our excellence by U.S. News and World Report. We have approximately 20,000 patient visits per year. We are located at the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, 4860 Y Street, Suite 0200.
The Cardiac Rehabilitation program is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). We have approximately 5,500 patient visits per year. It is a multi-disciplinary program with physicians, nurses, exercise physiologist, dietician, and psychologist that collaborate to establish the best plan of care for the patient. Patient teaching is integrated into the exercise sessions to ensure all patients are getting the education components necessary for their success. Our program also includes cardiac yoga, stress reduction and mindfulness. We are located at the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, 4860 Y Street, Suite 0214.

The UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center is one of 41 NCI designated comprehensive cancer centers in the nation. Our specialized teams provide compassionate, comprehensive care for more than 10,000 adults and children a year. In our clinics, we have over 29,000 patient visits in the adult clinic and over 3300 patient visits in the pediatric oncology clinic. At the Cancer Center clinics, we strive to provide excellent customer service, while providing access to more than 150 active clinical trials, and the highest quality patient care for our patients.

The CTSC Clinical Research Center (CCRC) is a progressive, versatile, and highly integrated clinical research facility that provides clinical research expertise, services, and space to UC Davis investigators conducting studies relevant to human health and disease. Located in the Cypress Building, the dedicated clinic has infusion chairs, exam rooms, interview rooms, procedure rooms, an exercise room, a DEXA machine, and a lab for specimen processing and storage. The CCRC team is comprised of a nurse practitioner, clinical research nurses, an exercise physiologist, lab techs, and phlebotomists. All staff are trained in human subjects' protection, good clinical practices, protocol implementation, and compliance, thus ensuring the quality of data collected and the integrity of the research.

UC Davis Department of Dermatology is a major referral center for Northern California and Nevada. Our patient population is all ages, from babies to the elder. We see an average of 100 patients per day. We provide care for general dermatology, MOHS surgery, general dermatology surgery, phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, dermapathology, laser surgery, tele-derm and Store & Forward Program at three off sites (Roseville, Folsom & Elk Grove), cosmetic services and are actively involved in many research projects. We are honored to provide UVA-1 therapy and have the only UVA-1 therapy unit on the West coast. There are only five in the United States and soon China and Germany will each have one. In collaboration with the Veterans administration, we support the Dermatology Online Journal. The online journal is an open-access publication to meet the educational needs of the international community since 1995.

Home Health
The Home Health Program offers the opportunity for patients to receive skilled medical care in the comfort of their home. Members of the Home Health care team work collaboratively with physicians to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The goal of the Home Health program is to provide patients with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve maximum functioning and independence at home. Home health serves approximately 650 patients per year and maintains high patient satisfaction in all areas. The result is improved patient outcomes and wellness and a low re-hospitalization rate.
Hospice
The Hospice program provides care for terminally ill patients who wish to remain at home. Hospice care involves support for patients and their loved ones. It is not so much a place, but rather an approach to health care emphasizing symptom management while helping patients and families to cope with psychosocial and spiritual issues. UC Davis Hospice serves patients of all ages, including newborns and children, as well as adults. Hospice serves over 400 patients per year and maintains some of the highest patient satisfaction scores in the health system. The result is end of life care and coordination at home and a low re-hospitalization rate.
Home-based Palliative Care
The Home-based Palliative Care (HBPC) program offers support to patient and their families in their home. Palliative care focuses on the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people living with serious illness. HBPC serves over 200 patients per year and continues to grow. The result is coordination of care at home, a reduction in rehospitalizations and a seamless transition to hospice when patients are ready.

One of the largest clinics at UC Davis is the Internal Medicine & Specialty Clinic which offers General Medicine, Allergy and Rheumatology, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Nephrology, Geriatric, Infectious and Immunologic Diseases specialty care to a diverse patient population. The team of 40 faculty physicians, 122 residents and fellows, 3 dietitians, 9 medical assistants, 5 licensed vocational nurses, as well as 2 licensed vocational nurse pre-visit coordinators and 9 registered nurses are dedicated to providing advanced practice, comprehensive and compassionate care. Located in the Lawrence Ellison Ambulatory Care Building, the Internal Medicine Clinic sees over 3,200 patients and handles over 6,500 patient calls on a monthly basis.

Neurology/Neurophysiology Clinical Operations
Neuroscience Clinic, EEG Lab, EMG Lab, Sleep Lab
The Neuroscience Unit is a 15 bed acute care unit specializing in the care of neuro surgical, neuro trauma, neurology, and stroke patients. The unit has four dedicated beds which allow for video EEG monitoring. Patient diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, subarachnoid hemorrhage, subdural and epidural hematomas, brain tumor, aneurysm, intracerebral hemorrhage, spinal surgery, seizure and ischemic stroke. The unit serves as the specialty area for the management of stroke patients.
The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit is a 19 bed unit that specializes in the care of patients with traumatic injuries, acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, brain and spinal cord injuries, neuromuscular disorders and medically debilitating illnesses. Patients are cared for by an interdisciplinary team that includes registered nurses, physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, psychologists and social workers. The team works to improve the health, function and quality of life of the patients. Our goal is to provide excellent care to meet your medical, psychological, physical and social needs while promoting independence in preparation for transitioning back into your pre-injury routine.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) provides comprehensive, quality care to women of all ages at the rate of approximately 25,000 visits per year. In addition to general obstetrics and gynecology, services are provided in the sub-specialties of Dysplasia, Endocrinology, Infertility, Perinatology, Prenatal Diagnosis, Oncology, and Urogynecology. Clinic services are provided at the Ambulatory Care Center and Glassrock locations.

Together we are the Musculoskeletal Team. We are located at the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center, J street, C street and Y street locations. We provide care to at least 200 patients daily. Our services are divided into subspecialties to include: Trauma, Hand, Total joint replacements, Sports injuries, Pediatrics, Spine, Orthopedic Oncology, Foot reconstructive surgery, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation which includes spinal cord injuries, amputations, muscular dystrophy, and general rehabilitation clinics.
Our goal is to provide specialty care by quickly triaging the referral to the most appropriate specialist. We have Radiology, and Orthopaedic casting rooms on site. We have a compliment of staff which include Medical assistants, Orthopedic Technicians, LVNs, and RNs. We have a cohesive team that is committed to patient care. Our residents cross train amongst the specialties which allows for collaboration and teamwork. Orthopedics ranked #46 in the U.S. News and World Report’s for America’s Top 50 Orthopedic Hospitals! The Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery provides comprehensive clinical services to patients throughout Northern California, from the Oregon and Nevada borders to Fresno and the Bay Area. The Pain Management Clinics provide compassionate, cutting-edge treatment for patients whose chronic pain has affected their ability to function and enjoy life. Pain Management is a referral service and emphasizes a consultative team approach working closely with the referring Physicians. Through a multidisciplinary approach, the Pain Clinic Team consists of Anesthesiologists, Internists, Cancer Pain Specialists, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Palliative Medicine, Psychiatrists, Psychologist and Pain Specialty Nurses. Using this collaborative approach enables the Pain Team to provide and use the most advanced and proven techniques to restore function and decrease pain.
Pain Management offers four clinical areas in multiple locations. Anesthesia Pain Management OR Procedural Services with Pre/Post-op areas located in the Lawrence J. Ellison Ambulatory Care Center and Pain Management at the Spine Center Cannery location. Pain Consultation Services located in the Lawrence J. Our dedicated and compassionate care team includes physicians, nurses, social workers, dietitians, medical assistants, and clerical staff. The UC Davis Spine Center offers comprehensive spine care services. The program provides patients with an integrated, multidisciplinary approach to spine wellness. Patients are cared for by physicians who are part of the UC Davis School of Medicine's nationally recognized clinical faculty and utilize a state-of-the-art facility in treating their patients. The center's experienced team of spine specialists and support staff work together to provide patients with consultation as quickly as possible, determine an accurate diagnosis and deliver the most effective treatments and therapies available.
As part of the region's only academic medical center, the spine center offers patients of all ages access to dedicated physicians who are actively involved in the latest spine research and clinical trials, and to new and investigational diagnostics and treatments.
A full range of inpatient and outpatient services
When surgery is recommended, highly experienced neurosurgical and orthopaedic surgical teams are on hand with the most advanced technology to offer appropriate surgical interventions. Sharing expertise with one of the nation's best — and inland Northern California's only — level I trauma center, the spine center is uniquely equipped to handle a broad range of spinal cases. Neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, pain medicine physicians, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, radiologists, nurse practitioners', case managers and triage nurses, work together as a team to create individualized short- and long-term care plans for each patient.
The Spine Center has convenient in-house support services including physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab services, orthotics, x-ray, psychological testing, acupuncture and alternative and complementary therapies.

The Outpatient Surgery Clinic provides consultative, pre-operative and follow-up care for patients seen across six surgical specialties. We provide outpatient support for the multidisciplinary Bariatric Center of Excellence program, which incorporates both surgical and non-surgical weight loss programs; the regional Burn and Trauma Centers; patients of GI Surgery and Plastic Surgery; and Cardiac Surgery, including its VAD program. Our nurses find satisfaction in working with such a wide range of surgical patients. We have clinical nurses who have received specialty certifications in bariatric surgery and wound care. The Plastics C Street Clinic provides consultative, pre-operative and follow-up care for patients seeking a wide range of aesthetic plastic surgery procedures as well as reconstructive plastic surgery including craniofacial anomalies. Our patient population consists of both adults and children. The clinic also offers comprehensive skin care services by a licensed Aesthetician.
The Transplant Clinic provides multi-disciplinary care for kidney and pancreas organ transplant candidates and recipients. Each prospective candidate is assessed by several members of the multi-disciplinary team, and managed by the team throughout the transplant waiting period. After the life-changing transplant event, recipients are followed closely by RN Transplant Coordinators for the life of the transplanted organ. The care of the transplant recipient is delivered through the combined effort of nurse coordinators, nurse practitioners, surgeons, nephrologists, social workers, dietitians and pharmacists. Through the efforts of these many professionals, our patients receive excellent transplant care.
The Dialysis Access Clinic also serves the end stage renal disease population by providing surgical services for the creation of access for hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis. Our Dialysis Access Nurse Coordinator provides case management for this population and works closely with community dialysis units to provide access to care as well as education.
Our transplant team travels to several communities in Northern California and Northern Nevada to provide education to dialysis professionals, and to provide care for patients in all phases of the transplant experience.

UC Davis Internal Medicine Pulmonary Specialty Clinic which offers asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, advanced lung disease, interstitial lung disease, cystic fibrosis, sarcoidosis as well as general pulmonary specialty care to a diverse patient population. The team of 13 faculty physicians, 12 fellows, 3 respiratory therapists, 1 dietitian, 3 medical assistants, 1 licensed vocational nurse and 2 registered nurses are dedicated to providing advanced practice, comprehensive and compassionate care. Located at 2825 J Street Suite 400 in Sacramento, the Pulmonary Specialty Clinic sees over 600 patients and handles over 1,400 patient calls on a monthly basis.

Comprehensive Care for Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Our team of specialist at The Comprehensive Gastroenterology and Hepatology Clinic offer both general and complex gastrointestinal and hepatology care. Our service is divided into subspecialties including: general and complex gastroenterology, biliary, hepatology, and endoscopy. Located at the UC Davis Midtown Ambulatory Care Center, 3160 Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento our care delivery model is “person-centered care,” where we provide care in the best way, at the best time, in the best place and with the best team.
Endoscopic procedures are performed on site using state-of-the-art technology with our team of specialists including exemplary physicians, specialized nurses, and technicians. Our multidisciplinary clinical team includes gastroenterologists, hepatologists, pharmacists, nurse case managers, and medical assistants. Together we partner with our patients to improve lives and reduce the burden of disease.

The Elk Grove clinic is part of the UC Davis Primary Care Network servicing clients from South Sacramento to Stockton with a wide range of healthcare needs. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Currently we have 7 Family Practice providers, 2 Internal Medicine and 17 specialty physicians seeing 250 patients a day. The clinic also houses outpatient lab and radiology departments providing services to approximately 100 patients per day. The GI clinic has 2 procedure rooms and 4 post op recovery beds and we perform approximately 190 procedures per month.We bring the strength of UC Davis close to home.

Located at the heart of Folsom City, population 64,394 and growing, a high-tech town with family oriented neighborhoods, Folsom clinic is a full service clinic offering clinical services to patients aging from newborns to the elderly. Its structural layout is three separate buildings. Pediatric, dermatology, OBGYN, Mammogram and Ultrasound services are offered at 1370 Prairie City Rd; Family Practice, Internal Medicine, GI with a GI procedure suite, Radiology and Lab are offered at the 271 Turn Pike Drive address; Specialty physicians include Cardiology, Vascular, General Surgery, Neurology, Renal, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Pulmonary with a PFT lab, and Endocrinology are offered at the 251 Turnpike Drive address. The GI procedure lab performs endoscopy and colonoscopy. Our clinic hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Same day appointments are available. Folsom clinic is the largest of the UC Davis Medical Group Primary Care Network (PCN) clinics. This clinic is still growing and additional services are anticipated as the demand for services increase.

UC Davis Vascular center provides comprehensive, innovative, patient-centered care for individuals with the full spectrum of vascular conditions, including acute and chronic limb ischemia, aortic and arterial aneurysms, aortic and arterial dissections, cerebrovascular disease, renovascular disease, mesenteric arterial and venous disease, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, and arterial-venous malformations. Hemodialysis access is created and maintained. Other, non-vascular conditions that are treated through the center include uterine fibroids, liver disease, tumors, and vertebral compression fractures.
The Vascular center is an interdisciplinary practice that includes Vascular Surgery, Vascular Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neuro-interventional Radiology, Interventional Nephrology, and Cardiovascular Surgery. Together, our team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, medical assistants, and clerical staff strive daily to ensure exceptional patient satisfaction and care.
The UC Davis Vein Program, part of the Vascular center, is accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission. Approximately 3000 patient visits, and approximately 450 varicose vein procedures, take place each year.
