Specialty Certifications
Specialty certifications enable our nurses to demonstrate their specialty expertise and validate their knowledge, skills and abilities in a defined role and clinical area of practice, based on predetermined standards. Certification is defined as a process by which a national nursing organization/association or governmental agency certifies that an individual licensed to practice has met certain predetermined standards specified by that profession for specialty practice. The purpose is to assure the public that an individual has mastered a body of knowledge and acquired skills in a particular nursing specialty.
UC Davis Health currently holds a 55% specialty certification rate among our nursing and APP colleagues. Our goal is to increase this number every year.
