The Microbiology Laboratory at the Specialty Testing Center offers a comprehensive range of diagnostic services through the following sections:
- Bacteriology:
- Aerobic and anaerobic cultures
- Specialized cultures for organisms such as Legionella spp.
- Routine and confirmatory antimicrobial susceptibility testing using both automated systems and reference methods
- Mycology:
- Fungal cultures from all relevant body sites
- Expert identification of yeasts and molds
- Yeast susceptibility testing on clinically significant isolates
- Parasitology:
- Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT)
- Specialized staining techniques for identification of protozoa and helminths
- Infectious Disease Molecular Testing:
- Advanced molecular diagnostics, with additional services provided by the UC Davis Health Molecular Laboratory
