The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is excited to announce the launch of our Junior Career Development Program, which includes a quarterly Job Talk Series, Research Roundtables and Mock Interview Sessions beginning September 2025, designed specifically for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, residents, and fellows.

Job Talks

This initiative provides a valuable platform for early-career researchers to practice delivering professional presentations and receive constructive feedback in a supportive environment. Presentations on a research topic of the participants’ choice will be held on the second Thursday of each quarter at 12 p.m.

Mock Interview Sessions

This series will also feature a job interview training session in collaboration with our Human Resources team. This session is tailored to help participants prepare for future job interviews—whether for residency programs, academic positions, industry roles, or fellowships—by offering practical experience and personalized feedback.

Participants will engage in mock interviews with HR professionals who regularly assess candidates. You’ll receive guidance on communication style, presentation skills, and interview responses, along with tips on effectively showcasing your qualifications, research experience, and clinical background. The session will also cover strategies for answering common behavioral and technical questions and provide insights into what hiring committees and HR teams look for during the hiring process.

This is a great opportunity to build confidence, refine your interview techniques, and strengthen your readiness for the job market. We encourage all students, postdocs, and residents affiliated with the Department of Pathology to take advantage of this initiative.

Research Roundtables

Quarterly Roundtable discussions will be led by senior research faculty and staff on a variety of topics to prepare junior researchers to pursue a professional research career. Topics may include issues such as the current state of funding opportunities; academic research career titles, positions and opportunities; and research lab financing.

Starting September 2025

12 -1 p.m. - 2nd Thursday of each month (unless stated otherwise)
