Our mission is to advance child health in Sacramento and surrounding regions through excellence in patient care, education, research, and community partnerships.

Our general pediatrics faculty are part of integrated, multidisciplinary teams of patients, families, medical and surgical specialty providers, mental health providers, schools, and other government and non-governmental agencies that promote child health from birth through adolescence and transition to young adulthood.

Research Activities

Our faculty are leading and partnering in clinical trials, qualitative research, population health research, healthcare delivery science research, and community-engaged research.

Scholarly areas of expertise include medical education, health care equity, integrated behavioral health in primary care, ACEs screening and responding, breastfeeding medicine, care of children in foster care, care of children with complex medical conditions, quality improvement, advocacy, and physician wellness.

Academic Programs

On a local, regional, national, and international scale, our faculty are leading and partnering in the education of learners in all stages of the health professions pathway, including K-12, pre-health, and health professions students, residents, fellows, and practicing health professionals. Our faculty are teachers at the bedside, in the classroom, and with our partners outside of the health system.

General Pediatrics Specialty Clinics

Our faculty provide expert patient-centered and family-centered care for infants, children, and adolescents at UC Davis Medical Center and at community sites in partnership with federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs).

UC Davis Medical Center

  • Glassrock Pediatrics Primary Care Clinic houses our Faculty Practice, Breastfeeding Medicine and Lactation Support Clinic (led by our faculty general pediatrician/IBCLC who provides support and management of routine and complex breastfeeding issues), and Pediatric Resident Continuity Clinic.
  • Cleft and Craniofacial Clinic is led by ENT and joined by team members in Audiology, Dentistry, General Pediatrics, Genetics, OMFS, Orthodontics, Plastic Surgery, Social Work, and Speech Pathology.
  • Pediatric Enteral Nutrition (PEN) Clinic is led by a team made up of General Pediatrics faculty, registered dietitians, and Pediatric GI nurses to care for children with medically complex needs.
  • Pediatric Pain Clinic is led by Pediatric Anesthesia and joined by team members in General Pediatrics and Psychology.
  • Child Abuse consultations at UC Davis Children's Hospital are led by General Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine faculty.
  • Newborn Nursery at UC Davis Hospital is a Baby-Friendly© designated hospital where our faculty train medical students and residents in the care of newborns.

FQHC Partnerships

We partner with federally-qualified health centers (FQHCs) to deliver comprehensive primary care, provide student and resident education, and promote the health of diverse communities of Sacramento.
