Program Mission Statement

The UC Davis Psychiatry Residency Training program is committed to training residents to be outstanding clinicians by offering opportunities to work with underserved and diverse patient populations. We strive to improve the mental health of our local and global communities. Residents receive a firm grounding in psychodynamic principles, integrated care, as well as the biological and social determinants of health. We hope to inspire our residents to make a difference in the world through research, education, advocacy, and clinical practice.

Our program aims to train residents from diverse backgrounds to:

  • Be outstanding clinicians in a variety of clinical settings
  • Provide high quality care to underserved and diverse patient populations
  • Become effective educators
  • Become effective advocates for mental health equity
  • Become leaders in psychiatric care, education, and research

We do so by providing well rounded psychiatric training and incorporating flexibility for residents to pursue their specific career interests
