PSY 416 - Child Psychiatry Clerkship

Prerequisites: Psychiatry core clerkship and/or consent of clerkship director
Course Description: Offers didactic and clinical outpatient experiences with children, adolescents and families. Under supervision, student does clinical observation, diagnostic assessment and treatment. Student may also attend regularly scheduled didactics and case conferences with child psychiatry fellows.

Clerkship objectives
- Improve knowledge of childhood psychiatric disorders.
- Improve ability to evaluate and treat children.
- Gain familiarity with various treatment modalities used in treating children with mental illness.

- Trauma-related disorders
Grading Criteria: This course is honors/pass/fail. Honors vs. Pass: An honors student will exceed expectations in four of the six clinical competencies.
Attendance Policy: Per UC Davis Health policy, students can miss no more than 2 days per 4-week block. This includes vacation leave, sick leave, and any admin needs for residency interviews.
