Mood Disorders and Depression

Our researchers specialize in innovative treatments for mood disorders in youth, young adults and adults, with current studies focused on depression, bipolar disorders, treatment-resistant conditions and risk for major mood disorders.

  • Using Neuroscience to Promote Resilience Across the Lifespan

The Mood Disorders Research Program at UC Davis specializes in developing innovative approaches to evaluate, treat, and prevent mood and related disorders in youth, young adults and adults. Currently, the research program is embarking on a number of clinical trials to test the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapies, behavioral therapies, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and deep brain stimulation (DBS).

Our investigators are active in the biology of mental illness and have published extensively on the neurobiology and psychopharmacological treatment of pediatric mood disorders. Research and clinical interests include treatment of refractory mood problems in youth, novel treatment strategies, and the neurobiology of mood disorders and placebo response across the lifespan.
