Philosophy of Care

I strive to consider the totality of human experiences, identifications, and unconscious processes which give shape to our psychic world and manner of living. Whether I see patients for medication management or psychotherapy my approach is inspired, first and foremost, by the rich perspectives offered by psychoanalysis.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Bickel is a general psychiatrist who provides longitudinal care to adults in the outpatient setting.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Bickel has a special interest in the study, teaching, and application of psychoanalysis. He is most intimately involved with mentoring residents in the art of psychotherapy.
