Dr. Hinton believes in providing care that is respectful, compassionate, and centered on the preferences and values of patients and, when appropriate, family members actively involved in providing support and care.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Hinton is a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist and clinician-researcher.

Research/Academic Interests

Dr. Hinton is a clinician-scientist with formal research training in both medical anthropology and health services research and have conducted interdisciplinary research (both observational and interventions) with a major focus on Alzheimer's and related dementias, late life depression, and family caregiving. He has worked extensively with ethnically and racially diverse populations in the US and globally, particularly in Asia (Vietnam and Thailand), to advance care and services for persons with dementia and their families. He has also led efforts to train and diversify the research workforce.
