CIRCLE Clinic improves health for foster care children

In partnership with the Sacramento County Health Center, the Comprehensive Integration of Resilience into Child Life Experiences (CIRCLE) Clinic addresses the effects of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in foster care children. The multidisciplinary clinic offers comprehensive, trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive care by UC Davis pediatricians; mental health services in partnership with the UC Davis CAARE Center; connections to community resources; and more.
CAARE’ing for youth trauma survivors

The CAARE (Child and Adolescent Abuse Resource and Evaluation) Diagnostic and Treatment Center, led by Michele Ornelas Knight, Psy.D., is a nationally recognized program for the evaluation and treatment of child maltreatment and offers high-risk children and young adults up to 21 years of age clinical assessments, case management, psychological testing, consultation and trauma treatment.
Sacramento’s first comprehensive trauma recovery center opens

UC Davis Health opened the first comprehensive trauma recovery center in Sacramento. The UC Davis CAARE (Child and Adolescent Abuse Resource and Evaluation) Diagnostic and Treatment Center established the new center, thanks to a nearly $1.2 million grant from the California Victim Compensation Board. The CAARE Center collaborates with the UC Davis Health Wraparound Program, a hospital-based violence intervention program, and the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program to provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive and evidenced-based mental health treatments for victims of crime from infants to those age 30 years old.
