Construction Activity

UC Davis Health understands construction can have an impact on nearby neighbors. To better inform residents about upcoming work outside of regular hours information will be posted to this webpage.

Please note that schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and resource availability. The construction teams remain committed to maintaining the presented timelines to the best of their ability. 

After-Hour Construction Activity 

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): 
    • March 9, 10, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 31
    • April 1, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 29, 30
    • May 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 
    • June 2, 3, 5, 9, 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 29, 30
    • July 1, 8, 9, 14, 20, 23, 24, 28, 30
    • August 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 21, 24, 27, 28
    • September 9, 16, 18, 25
    • October 2
  • Time Frame: Gates open at 3 a.m. and concrete pours start at 4 a.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: Gravel and slab on metal deck concrete pours
  • Important Project Notes: Potential dust and noise. Dust control plan, noise and lighting mitigations measures will be implemented.
    • All trucks will use white sound backup alarms.
    • Majority of pours will occur in the early morning during low traffic times.
    • Concrete pump will remain on ground level for all pours.
    • Flaggers in place to assist trucks.
  • This work will:
    • Prevent delays to ambulance traffic at the hospital. 
    • Avoid high traffic times and prevent traffic impacts from concrete and gravel trucks when many staff and patient vehicles are present. 

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): Weekdays, January through TBD
  • Time Frame: 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: Cranes and construction elevator (man-lift) will be used to conduct night stocking activities by placing materials on the Tower structure floors. 
  • Important Project Notes: Second shift is being conducted in the evenings to free up cranes for day construction. Noise mitigation measures will be implemented.

Weekend Construction Activity

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): Saturday, October 17, 2026 and Sunday, October 18, 2026 
  • Time Frame: Saturday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: 
    • Saturday: Exterior panel installation. Electrical rough-ins, equipment delivery, and inspections on Level 06. Framing installations in shafts and stairs. Pressure testing across multiple levels. Installation of acoustical insulation (in-wall and overhead). Material deliveries and general site maintenance. 
    • Sunday: Material deliveries and general site maintenance. 
  • Important Project Notes: Noise mitigation measures will be implemented. 

Project Name: Cancer Center

  • Work Location: Cancer Center South, along X Street and unnamed access road separating the Cancer Center and Imaging Resource Building 
  • Work Date(s): Saturday, October 17, 2026 and Sunday, October 18, 2026 
  • Time Frame: Saturday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: Crews will perform exterior landscape cleanup and restoration. Work will include removing vegetation, backfilling and grading the existing trench, and installing walk-on bark. 
  • Important Project Notes: Noise mitigation measures will be implemented. Temporary impact will be limited to the northernmost lane along Cancer Center South, and only one lane will be temporarily closed during construction activities. The roadway will remain open and accessible to vehicular traffic, with no anticipated impacts to building or emergency vehicle access.
