UC Davis Health understands construction can have an impact on nearby neighbors. To better inform residents about upcoming work outside of regular hours information will be posted to this webpage.

Please note that schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions and resource availability. The construction teams remain committed to maintaining the presented timelines to the best of their ability. 

After-Hour Construction Activity 

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): 
    • March 9, 10, 12, 13, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 26, 27, 31
    • April 1, 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 22, 24, 27, 29, 30
    • May 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 
    • June 2, 3, 5, 9, 15, 17, 18, 19, 24, 29, 30
    • July 1, 8, 9, 14, 20, 23, 24, 28, 30
    • August 6, 10, 11, 13, 14, 21, 24, 27, 28
  • Time Frame: Gates open at 3 a.m. and concrete pours start at 4 a.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: Gravel and slab on metal deck concrete pours
  • Important Project Notes: Potential dust and noise. Dust control plan, noise and lighting mitigations measures will be implemented.
    • All trucks will use white sound backup alarms.
    • Majority of pours will occur in the early morning during low traffic times.
    • Concrete pump will remain on ground level for all pours.
    • Flaggers in place to assist trucks.
  • This work will:
    • Prevent delays to ambulance traffic at the hospital. 
    • Avoid high traffic times and prevent traffic impacts from concrete and gravel trucks when many staff and patient vehicles are present. 

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): Weekdays, January through TBD
  • Time Frame: 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: Cranes and construction elevator (man-lift) will be used to conduct night stocking activities by placing materials on the Tower structure floors. 
  • Important Project Notes: Second shift is being conducted in the evenings to free up cranes for day construction. Noise mitigation measures will be implemented.

Weekend Construction Activity

Project Name: California Tower

  • Work Location: X and 45th Streets
  • Work Date(s): Saturday, September 5, 2026 and Sunday, September 6, 2026 
  • Time Frame: Saturday, 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Work Being Conducted: 
    • Saturday: Overhead and in-wall plumbing rough-ins throughout the Tower and priority floors. Framing installation on priority floors and upper level of the Tower. Fireproofing installation on upper levels of Tower. Electrical overhead and in-wall rough-in. Installation of the Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) system. Fire sprinkler pipe rough-in on levels 01 and 13. Ongoing trenching and point of connection work for underground piping around perimeter of building. Material deliveries and general site maintenance. 
    • Sunday: Framing installation throughout the shafts/stairs and the Tower. Plumbing rough-in on priority floors. Material deliveries and general site maintenance. 
  • Important Project Notes: Noise mitigation measures will be implemented.
