Vieira began her career at UC Davis Health in 2007 as a student nurse extern, later joining MSICU Gold as a new graduate after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento. She went on to become a founding clinical resource nurse for the Transfer & Receiving Unit and MSICU Blue, where she led quality improvement and education initiatives to support staff development. In this role, she coordinated annual unit-based skills training, served as editor of the department’s monthly newsletter, and was an active member of Professional Governance, serving as chair from 2012 to 2014. She also served as a superuser for the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), Barcode Medication Administration, Philips monitors, and Alaris pumps.
Ashley also holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Nevada, a Master of Science in Nursing Science and Healthcare Leadership from the UC Davis Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Capella University. She has earned the Health Professions Educator Graduate Academic Certificate and holds certifications in Critical Care Nursing, Nursing Professional Development–Advanced Board Certification, and a micro-credential in Sepsis.
Her teaching experience includes serving as adjunct clinical faculty at Samuel Merritt University and the Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, where she mentors students in clinical and laboratory courses, provides EMR training, and participates in palliative care education panels.
As a member of the Center for Professional Practice of Nursing, Ashley is passionate about advancing nursing education in cardiology and vascular management, procedural sedation, sepsis, end-of-life and palliative care, evidence-based practice, and professional growth.
