This course is for RNs who care for adult patients undergoing cardiac monitoring. This course is a hybrid course and has two parts. Part A consists of two self-paced online modules. These modules cover measuring and interpreting common cardiac rhythms, including: sinus rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, ventricular rhythms, cardiac conduction blocks and pacemaker rhythms. Attendees will practice the measuring and interpretation of rhythms. Clinical assessment and nursing management will be reviewed for common dysrhythmias. Part B consists of an in-person exam, a score of ≥83% must be achieved to pass and complete the class and earn continuing education.
The online portion of this hybrid course is 80% of the total time commitment. The date and time for which you register for is when you will take the exit exam. The total time commitment for this course is 8 hours.
This course is exclusively open to UC Davis Health RNs. Other UC Davis Health employees can request approval from the course coordinators if it aligns with their job responsibilities.
Before attending the in-person exit exam, participants must complete two self-paced online modules. Participants must complete Module 1 prior to accessing Module 2. Participants must pass the Knowledge Check with a score of 83% or higher.

Additional Resources
Please see below links for additional resources. The ECG Practice Rhythms and Review Module is optional. It is recommended for participants that would like additional practice rhythms for interpretation, rationales, and concept review to prepare for the exit exam.
It is recommended that modules are completed within 30 days of the in-person exam. Calipers are recommended for course activities but are not required. Calipers can be checked out by contacting the course facilitators.
When the online modules are complete, staff will attend an in-person exit exam. Participants must complete the two ECG Interpretation Course Modules listed above to participate in the exam. Successful completion of the modules will be verified by UC Learning Center transcripts upon arrival for the exam. The date that you register for the course is the date of your exit exam.
All exam materials will be provided by CPPN. Participants must pass the exit exam with a score of ≥83%. Learners are encouraged to contact course coordinators and schedule time to review content prior to exam as needed. Participants that have not completed the pre-course modules by the in-person exam date will be considered a "no show" and will forfeit registration deposit.
Participants must be able to login into UC Learning Center using their Kerberos username and passphrase. To recall or recover, call the Help Desk at 916-734-4357 prior to arriving for the exit exam.
