This is a course for nurses who care for adult patient with sepsis. The course will cover the pathophysiology of sepsis, severe sepsis, and septic shock, including patient assessment and management. This course will mirror the nurses’ workflow, stressing the importance of early identification, responding to Epic-based alerts, timely interventions, and communication when caring for septic patients.
This is a blended learning course that consists of two parts. The first consists of an online module and post-test. Part two consists of in-person utilization of case studies and role play.
This class is only open to UC Davis Health CN IIs, CN IIIs, CN IVs and AN IIs. Exceptions must be approved by the CPPN course coordinators.
Before attending the in-person class, participants must complete one self-paced module. It is recommended that the module is completed within 30 days of the course date.
