Observation experience
An observational experience permits observers, for educational purposes, to view the performance of clinical services at the University of California, Davis, Medical Center. An observational experience is strictly observational; no access/patient care. During an observational experience, a designated staff person, present in the area where the observation occurs, assumes responsibility for directing the student.
Observers cannot participate in patient care even if it’s within their scope as a nursing student or employee. Additionally, observers cannot utilize access they have as an employee or student (i.e. no using card-keys/IDs for access; no EPIC or Rover device login, no Pyxis access, etc.).
This observational experience is not designed to replace any hours for a school of nursing’s program/curricula. Staff are not required to sign any forms to confirm “hours of completion.”
