Radiology’s Connie Gardea receives this month’s POP Award

(SACRAMENTO)

On Wednesday, July 21, Chief Nursing and Patient Care Services Officer Toby Marsh presented this month’s Point of Pride (POP) Award to Connie Gardea, a reception team member, from Radiology Administration. The POP Award recognizes that every day, countless actions of empathy and kindness – large and small – take place across our health system.

A patient arrived for a myocardium MRI appointment in preparation for a surgery scheduled the following week with her 9-year-old daughter, who is autistic. She had been told by the ordering physician it was okay to bring her daughter as it was not an invasive procedure.

The patient shared her daughter needed a smartphone to be able to sit in one place for two hours. Connie, wanting to help and provide the best care to the patient and her daughter, offered to have the patient’s daughter sit with her in the Pavilion MRI waiting room during the MRI.

“Connie went above and beyond, and demonstrated compassion and exceptional care,” shared Alex Shcherbeck, Radiology Service Supervisor. “My team and I are fortunate to work with Connie.  Radiology overcame a communication challenge, thanks to the dedication and compassion of our front reception team.”

Congratulations to Connie, our POP Award winner!
