Davis clinic expands radiology services to community

(DAVIS)

Patients can now access more radiology services close to their homes, thanks to a collection of new offerings at the UC Davis Health clinic location in Davis and the Edwards Athletic Center on the UC Davis main campus.

The MRI installation opened to patients on Monday, completing a radiology expansion project that spanned many months.

New services include:

  • MRI – 165 patients per month
  • Ultrasound – 150 patients per month
  • Mammography – 250 patients per month
  • X-ray walk-in clinic

Historically, the Davis clinic on W. Covell Blvd. only featured X-ray services onsite. Patients often had to travel to Sacramento for more complex imaging needs.

The new X-ray walk-in unit on Davis campus is called Edwards Athletic Center. This resource gives the Davis community a second option for X-ray services, plus serves employees and students on campus.

Since February, ultrasound has served 800 patients. The Edwards Athletic Center has served 388 patients, employees, and students since June. And mammography has seen 214 patients since July.

“The Ancillary Services team has worked hard to expand radiology services in the Davis clinic located on W. Covell Blvd. Patients now have access to crucial imaging technology right in their community,” said Interim Associate Chief Operating Officer of Ambulatory Care David Del Pizzo. “I’m proud of the service enhancements, and especially grateful to the Radiology Department and the clinical team in Davis for filling this need for patients.”

The team who completed the radiology expansion project includes Director of Radiology Delane Mason, Radiology Managers Ed Ronningen and Stephen Wetzel, Kevin Caruso of the clinical engineering team, and James Maus and Ezzuddin Hassouneh of the project team.
