Your Voice Matters: Support UC Davis’ From Labs to Lives Campaign

(SACRAMENTO)

In February 2025, UC Davis launched “From Labs to Lives,” a campaign to increase public understanding of the value of university-led research.

From Labs to Lives spotlights the researchers who are working to improve lives through their work across the university — from medicine to food, agriculture to technology.

Researchers across UC Davis Health are driving discoveries that can transform the way we live, from developing “smart” nanotech to target cancer tumors with more precision and pioneering in-utero gene editing therapy for a rare neurological genetic disorder, to using an AI-based digital pathology tool to study the mechanisms of cell therapy, to studying how wildfire smoke during pregnancy may be linked to increased likelihood of autism.

Federal funding is critical to this work, and critical research hangs in the balance as UC faces unprecedented federal threats.

UC Davis received $961 million in external research awards for fiscal year 2024-25. Federal agencies remain the top source of funding, totaling $450 million.

From Labs to Lives takeover

One year after its launch, UC Davis is preparing for a From Labs to Lives takeover on Feb. 25. For one day, UC Davis will share From Labs to Lives content across its digital platforms.

The university-wide campaign aims to influence policymakers, engage the public and strengthen our research reputation by highlighting personal stories that demonstrate real-world outcomes.

Here’s how to get involved in the From Labs to Lives takeover on Feb. 25:

Every post, share and conversation strengthens the momentum behind From Labs to Lives, contributing to a stronger understanding of why research matters — and why UC Davis’ vital work needs continued support.
