UC Davis Health earns national, global recognitions in patient care

Newsweek on Feb. 25 recognized the UC Davis Medical Center as one of the “World’s Best Hospitals in 2026.”

In a testament to its positive patient outcomes and other rising metrics, UC Davis Health was ranked 35^th among U.S. health systems and 7^th in California with a score of 72.72%. Newsweek collected data from four different data sources to determine this year’s list:

• hospital quality metrics
• recommendations from medical experts (doctors, hospital managers, and  health care professionals)
• results from patient surveys
• Statista (Patient-Reported Outcome Measures) PROMs implementation survey

The World’s Best Hospitals 2026 title reflects a hospital’s reputation for providing global benchmark-leading care and excellent services, Newsweek stated in an email.

The rankings, produced in partnership with the global data platform Statista, highlighted the top hospitals in 32 featured countries, as well as a Global Top 250 list identifying the best hospitals worldwide (UC Davis Health ranked 225^th globally). The total number of hospitals worldwide is projected to approach 216,000 this year, according to Statista.

In addition to the U.S., Newsweek surveyed hospitals in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom.

‘Great hospital,’ cardiovascular care

Also, Becker’s Hospital Review recently named UC Davis Health among the “100 Great Hospitals in America.”

The publication noted, “These hospitals stand out for their exceptional clinical performance, unwavering focus on patient safety, and dedication to innovation, research and education. Their commitment to delivering outstanding patient experiences has earned them national recognition.”

In addition, Becker’s recently listed UC Davis Health among the nation’s top health systems for cardiovascular care, strong patient outcomes and its use of life-saving technologies.

“These heart programs also lead the way in cardiology research, driving discoveries that are shaping and advancing the field,” Becker’s noted.
