Small Dose, Big Impact: Rocklin staff return visitor's lost glasses

When employees share even the smallest kindness, it can make a huge impact on patients. In this case, even visitors.

In February, a woman drove her friend to an appointment at the Rocklin clinic. While her friend got an MRI, she curled up on a sofa in the waiting room with a book. When the appointment was over, she realized she had misplaced her reading glasses. She looked around her seat and pulled everything out of her purse. No luck. She left her information with Radiology reception in case her glasses turned up.

"I called lost and found and a guy was so helpful, very sweet. Nobody had found them yet. The next day I got a call from this young man and he said somebody turned them in! I was so thrilled. When I went in to pick them up in Radiology, they celebrated with me. I worked as a nurse at Kaiser. You need some nice kudos on your record. I see the group as being very helpful and friendly. I wish I had the insurance to be seen at UC Davis Health. I was so pleased with their service and treatment of my friend. They’re doing something right at the Rocklin clinic!"

The visitor was so impressed, she called in a compliment to Guest Relations.

The Radiology staff who returned the glasses and celebrated with her were later identified as Medical Assistant Amanda Riley and Patient Service Representative Karla Ruiz Morales.

"Our staff’s commitment to going the extra mile for patients and visitors helps create a community where people feel cared for, supported and valued while bringing UC Davis Health’s patient-centered mission to life," said Radiology Services Manager Robin Gosz.

The Small Dose, Big Impact series recognizes employees who take the extra step, however tiny, to make meaningful connections with patients. Better health takes more than health care. Believe in better.
