Construction updates: Ticon 3 building closure, Parking Structure 5 update

(SACRAMENTO)

The following are upcoming building and construction updates for the week of Sept. 11. The projects will have slight parking impacts.

Ticon 3 Building Closure

The Ticon 3 leased building located at 2730 Stockton Blvd., just across the street from the UC Davis Health medical campus, is set to close at the end of Sept. 2023. All access to the building, as well as parking lots, will be prohibited.

Ticon 3, which was home to Human Resources, is a seismic category V building per University of California standard. As part of UC Davis Health’s real estate portfolio strategy, the decision to vacate and not renew the lease, was made at the conclusion of the Office of the Future planning initiative. Human Resources has since relocated to the UC Davis Health Administrative Services facility located at 10850 White Rock Road in Rancho Cordova earlier in the year. The Ticon 3 building no longer has staff occupying the site. UC Davis Health’s real estate management team is partnering with the landlord to decommission the building throughout September. The decision to vacate the lease will not only ensure the safety of staff but will also help to save roughly $200K in annual lease expenses for the University.

Parking Structure 5 Update

PS5 entered its soft launch in mid-August to support contractor parking for those working on the California Tower, 48X Complex and N/S Tower Demolition capital construction projects. It is currently serving 400 occupants. Once landscaping is completed and permanent SMUD power is in operation, PS5 will fully open to contractors. Following the completion of the California Tower in 2030, Parking Structure 5 is planned to open to the campus. In the meantime, PS5 will make spaces on campus formerly occupied by contractors now open to staff.
