EH&S Associate Director successfully leverages leadership consulting and enacts positive change

(SACRAMENTO)

Teams across UC Davis Health have been taking action following their discussions on leveraging their strengths and addressing areas for improvement. Below are some highlights that supervisors have shared about their successes.

Becky Grunewald is an Associate Director in Environmental Health and Safety who took advantage of the one-on-one leader support consulting offered by Organizational Excellence as one of the many resources for the CommUNITY Feedback Survey response.

“After receiving the results of the 2023 CommUNITY survey, Environmental Health and Safety wanted to address areas with improvement opportunities as well as continue progress in areas of strength. To prepare to do that, I met with Organizational Excellence consultants to discuss our plan. I started the process with ideas about how to respond to the survey results, but at each meeting, OE encouraged me to instead listen and gather feedback from the EH&S team, and to let them prioritize and lead the response. This helped to build buy-in for the follow-up actions and led us in some interesting and surprising directions.

I have felt very supported by OE throughout the entire process and have also shared with the EH&S team that I have been meeting with the experts at Organizational Excellence and that they have been assisting us in our plan. I would encourage anyone looking to raise morale in a team and/or strengthen culture in a unit, big or small, to contact OE and tap into their knowledge, support and enthusiasm.”
