Several activities are available to members of the UC Davis and UC Davis Health community. Check out the events happening in August.
Cook Well, Live Well – UC Virtual Cooking Demo Series
The University of California, in partnership with HealthNet, is hosting a series of live virtual cooking demonstrations. The classes are designed to inspire healthier habits and make cooking at home simple, enjoyable, and delicious! This engaging series brings together expert nutrition guidance and hands-on culinary inspiration.
What to Expect:
- Learn simple, practical cooking ideas to support your well-being.
- Access to session recordings if you can’t attend live.

The Resiliency Series, hosted by UC San Diego
Join 15-minute resiliency and well-being sessions hosted by UC San Diego well-being team members. The sessions are designed to help participants feel more confident navigating life changes and will offer helpful resources and practical tools. All sessions begin at 12:30 p.m. See dates and topics below:
- Thursday, Aug. 6 – Caring for the caregiver: Building resilience
- Tuesday, Aug. 11 – Caring for the caregiver: Compassion
- Thursday, Aug. 13 – The vagus nerve: What it is and how to awaken it
- Friday, Aug. 14 – Caring for the caregiver: Well-being
- Tuesday, Aug. 18 – Strengthening our inner voice and increasing self-compassion

Live online mindfulness meditation, kindness meditation and mindful pause:
Focus on your health and well-being and strengthen your inner resources with science-based mindfulness meditation, kindness meditation, and mindful pause. Neesha Patel, Ph.D., Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being, will lead the sessions.

ASAP support groups
The Academic and Staff Assistance Program (ASAP) offers several online support group sessions. See dates below for each group session.

Eldercare support group
Participants will have the opportunity to share personal experiences with eldercare, learn about community resources, and obtain guidance on relevant topics.
Dates: Wednesday, Aug. 19
Time: noon – 1 p.m.
Pet loss support group
In collaboration with the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital, ASAP hosts a monthly discussion/support group that invites space for participants to meet and share experiences of grief after losing a beloved pet, find community resources, and discuss strategies for coping and self-care. The group is open for attendance from hospital clients as well as UC Davis and UC Davis Health community members.

Support group for neurodivergent staff
This is a caring space for neurodivergent staff to share ideas and support one another in using their strengths to cultivate professional effectiveness, emotional well-being, mindful living, and interpersonal understanding.

Let’s talk about menopause: Understanding menopause and finding support
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is hosting a free one-hour informational webinar about menopause. All are welcome to join.
Menopause is a transition that impacts nearly all aspects of an individual's health and well-being, yet it can still feel isolating or difficult to discuss. Join UCSF licensed clinical psychologist, Jessica Allanson, for a one-hour informational webinar covering the basics of the menopausal transition, current research, and available resources — whether you're experiencing menopause yourself, supporting someone who is, or simply looking to learn more.

Relax and release series
Taking time to relax is vital to our health, well-being and optimal functioning. Learn how to activate your body’s natural relaxation response in these sessions presented by Neesha Patel, Ph.D., Staff and Faculty Health and Well-being.
