Honoring our CRNAs during National CRNA Week
Dear Colleagues,
As we recognize National CRNA Week, I want to extend our sincere appreciation to the many CRNAs across UC Davis Health, as well as celebrate our exceptional CRNA faculty and our inaugural cohort of DNP-NA students.
CRNAs play a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate anesthesia care across our health system. Your clinical expertise and sound judgment essential to patient safety, surgical excellence, and interdisciplinary care. We are deeply grateful for the impact you make every day for our patients, families, and care teams.
I would also like to recognize our Doctor of Nursing Practice – Nurse Anesthesia (DNP-NA) faculty, whose commitment to education and practice is shaping the next generation of nurse anesthetists and strengthening the future of the profession. Our faculty bring extraordinary clinical expertise, thoughtful stewardship of the profession, and a deep dedication to teaching and mentoring.
This week also offers a moment to recognize the important role our future CRNAs will play in meeting California’s growing health care needs, both within UC Davis Health and in rural and medically underserved communities. I am especially proud to recognize our inaugural DNP-NA students, who are helping to establish the culture, standards, and future of this program through their hard work, resilience, and commitment to advanced practice nursing. They are truly setting the tone for the cohorts to come.
Thank you to all our CRNAs – both present and future – for your professionalism, leadership, and service to our School, our health system, and the communities we serve. I hope many will join me in expressing warm appreciation to this group of exceptional individuals.
Most sincerely,
Stephen Cavanagh
Dean, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing
