This year’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) Town Hall provided a forum for ERG leaders to share their experiences, discuss the state of culture and climate at UC Davis Health, and outline what’s next for the program.

Answers to additional questions during the Town Hall:

Q: Is ERG membership or participation open to specific cultural groups?

Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) are open to anyone, regardless of background, who wants to support, participate in, or learn about the many cultures and communities at UC Davis Health.

Membership and participation in ERG activities are not contingent on race, ethnicity, sex, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, or any other protected category under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.

Q: Are all the ERG meetings in person?

Each ERG sets its own meeting location and cadence, which may be virtual, in person, or a combination (hybrid). 

Q: Is membership in ERGs restricted based on campus location?

If an ERG is not housed on one campus (Davis or Sacramento), you can join the membership of the campus that offers it. Service on an ERG board is restricted to the campus where employees are based, as day-to-day activities and experiences vary between locations. 

Participation in programming and attendance at Davis or Sacramento ERGs remain open to anyone, regardless of their “home” campus.

Q: What does it mean to be a member, and what is the time commitment?

Being a member means joining the email list, attending meetings – often virtual –, or engaging meaningfully with the ERG. That looks different for everyone – it can include meeting participation, joining the board, volunteering at events, or designing an event. 

Q: How can I join an ERG board?

Nominations and Elections for the Employee Resource Groups at UC Davis Health are underway. Nominations are open until April 20, and only ERG members may vote in the election. You can submit a nomination for yourself or others by completing the nomination survey.
