Leadership message: Staff, Faculty, and Retiree Donor Celebration
Dear Colleagues,
At UC Davis Health, you are part of a special community that cares for patients, families and students through clinical care, family services, innovative research, education and programs that advocate for health equity and access.
Our community counts on us, and once again, you have shown up for them and for each other. Your teams give their time and talents every day, and many UC Davis employees donate funds through payroll deduction and one-time gifts to provide additional support to our patients, families, students and more.
For the past eight years, UC Davis Health has been part of the UC Davis $2 billion Expect Greater campaign. Thanks to our generous donors, we met our $500 million campaign goal in December 2023 – six months early – and surpassed the goal by $66 million. During the eight-year campaign, 37,277 donors gave to UC Davis Health with 20,577 of those identified as new donors. To honor and acknowledge the dedication of each generous employee and retiree donor to this campaign, we are hosting a celebration lunch on Tuesday, Sept. 24, with remarks from Vice Chancellor and CEO David Lubarsky as well as our faculty donor speaker, Dr. Sam Hwang.
In our different roles and from our diverse perspectives, we are all witnesses to the impact of philanthropy – from the physical building developments and campus growth to the visioning of new ideas and breakthrough research. The growth on the Sacramento campus and across the causeway to the Davis campus and our community clinics is extraordinary, and it’s possible because of our dedicated employees, retirees and donors like you.
I want to personally say “thank you” for what you do every day, for the courage and compassion you bring through our doors, and for the healing kindness, humanity and extraordinary care you give.
Thank you,
Chong Porter
