For the past several months, a dedicated team of communicators, digital specialists, IT partners, ambassadors and employees from across UC Davis Health has worked behind the scenes to build something new: The Nest.
On Oct. 26, The Nest will officially launch as UC Davis Health's new home base for employee news, information, resources and connection.
Whether you have followed its development or are hearing the name for the first time, The Nest is almost here. The desktop and mobile app platforms will make it easier to stay informed, engaged and connected to the people and work that make UC Davis Health remarkable.
Why The Nest?
Employees have told us they want information that is easier to find, more accessible and more relevant to their work. They want to stay connected to what is happening across our hospitals, clinics, research programs, classrooms and administrative departments. They also want to celebrate colleagues, discover resources and learn about the incredible work taking place throughout our health system.
We heard you. Feedback received through employee engagement surveys helped shape The Nest. Its launch is an example of You Said, Together We Did, a series of stories highlighting how employee feedback leads to positive change across UC Davis Health.
The name is a nod to the beloved peregrine falcons that have made their home atop the medical center for many years. Just as a nest brings a family of birds together, The Nest will offer a welcoming space for our employee community to connect, learn, share and grow.

I want to thank the IT partners, ambassadors, early adopters, user testers and project partners who helped shape The Nest with their feedback, ideas and enthusiasm. Their contributions strengthened the platform and helped ensure it reflects the needs of employees across UC Davis Health. There will still be room to grow and we hope you will share your ideas as it evolves in the weeks and months ahead.
Wherever you work, The Nest is designed to meet you where you are and make it easier to stay connected throughout the workday.
Next steps
The Insider will remain available as a legacy platform after The Nest launches, while longer-term plans are developed to move content to The Nest or appropriate SharePoint sites. A migration plan will be shared later in 2027.
Keep an eye on your email on the morning of Oct. 26 for instructions on how to log in to The Nest. Once you receive it, I encourage you to sign in on your computer, complete your profile, and follow topics that interest you. Make The Nest part of your daily routine.
