Meet the Principles of Community Showcase singers: Raeselle Episcope
In anticipation of UC Davis Health's Principles of Community Showcase on March 3, organizers invited this year’s performers to share what the Principles of Community mean to them. This week's interview is with Raeselle Episcope.
How do the Principles of Community resonate with you?
"What resonates most to me is the emphasis on listening, empathy, and honoring the diversity of experiences people bring."
What calls you to want to sing the National anthem, or perform for your colleagues?
"I’m drawn to singing and performing because music has a way of bringing people together and creating a sense of shared connection."
Share one experience that recently brought you closer to the Principles of Community at work?
"I had a patient who was confused about their appointment. Instead of rushing, I took the time to listen, explain their options clearly, and reassure them. Moments like that remind me how the Principles of Community show up in small, everyday interactions treating people with dignity, respect, and patience, even over the phone."
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
"People are often surprised to find out that outside of my day-to-day work, I own a Filipino-inspired dessert catering company."
[End of interview]
Thank you Raeselle Episcope for volunteering to sing at Principles of Community Showcase and for sharing your insights!
Are you interested in volunteering?
The event committee is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make it a welcoming, inspiring space for everyone who attends. On March 1 and March 2, volunteers will help decorate and setup the event—the behind-the-scenes work that transforms a venue into a vibrant reflection of community, creativity, and shared values. Volunteer roles include decorating, set up, and various other tasks to help ensure the venue is organized and ready for guests. Flexible shifts are available, and all volunteers will receive guidance and support on site. If you’re interested in volunteering, please sign up through this link.
