Mental Health Gatekeeper Trainings for faculty and staff who work with students
The Mental Health Gatekeeper Training Program consists of two separate, 2-hour, evidence-based mental health trainings offered to UC Davis staff and faculty who work with students. These trainings are supported by the Office of Student Affairs and funded by the University of California Office of the President’s Equity in Mental Health Program. The trainings are offered via Zoom or a training can be scheduled for groups by contacting: support-wellness-study-request@ucdavis.edu
The two trainings are Question, Persuade and Refer (a training focused on suicide prevention) and the Inquiring Mind (a training focused on mental health promotion and early intervention). Both trainings are designed to help equip TAs, staff, and faculty with skills and the knowledge they need to comfortably and confidently speak to students about mental health concerns and then refer them to appropriate mental health resources. This invitation refers to the training as "gatekeeper" training because TAs, faculty, and staff are often the students' gateways to help.
