National Pet Day bragging rights

Health system animal lovers are invited to send their favorite pet photos to social media team by April 5 for upcoming National Pet Day post

(SACRAMENTO)

Calling all pet lovers: April 11 is National Pet Day!

Cleaning up their messes isn’t always glamorous; however, whether they have fur, scales, feathers or barely any hair, our pets bring us so much joy.

To honor and celebrate our favorite, unique family members, the Public Affairs and Marketing team invites all interested UC Davis Health faculty, students and staff to participate in the National Pet Day celebration.

Life without a dog — or two — is not a life I care to live.” Rebecca Badeaux, Director for Strategic Communications, Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing

There are two ways you can submit your pictures:

Option 1: Send a photo of you and your pet to the UC Davis Health social media team by 3 p.m., Friday, April 5. Email pictures to hs-socialmedia@ucdavis.edu.

In the email, please include your name, department, name of your pet, and a fun or cute fact about your pet.

Option 2: Post a picture of you and your pet on your social media channel on April 11 and tag @ucdavishealth with the hashtag #PetsOfUCDavisHealth.

In your post, please include your name, department, name of your pet, and a fun or cute fact about your pet.

Questions about posting a photo? Here are some FAQs:

  • What counts as a pet? Any animal you caretake at home.

  • What kind of photo should I send?
Ideally, one that includes a photo of you with your pet. Funny, cute, or silly pictures are encouraged.
Please note: If other people are in the photo with you, please ensure you have their permission to post the picture.

  • What if my pet passed away?
First off, we’re very sorry. We know how deeply pets impact one’s life. Secondly, you’re certainly welcome to share or post a photo of you with your pet and add a note about their passing. We’re here to show support to one another.
