UC Davis Health Leave of Absence (LOA) team has recently simplified the leave request process, which previously required several steps and navigating multiple websites, one of which needed a VPN connection.

Streamlining processes and improving user experience
Elizabeth Delo, executive director of Benefit Programs and Services, said, “By providing better support to employees, managers and supervisors for leaves processes, UC Davis Health aims to help employees return to work more quickly and fully engaged, ready to contribute to the impactful work we do here.”
To ensure a seamless transition, notification banners have been added to all the old leave request webpages – EcoTime and the HS-LOA email – to direct employees to the new process. Managers and supervisors have also received information to familiarize them with the changes.
These improvements were driven by employee and manager/supervisor feedback, which called for clearer and more streamlined procedures. The updates are part of a larger, organization-wide move toward standardization to enhance the overall employment experience and expedite workflows over time. The LOA updates apply specifically to staff leave requests and do not affect leave requests for academic employees or work-related leaves.
Additional improvements to the LOA process include updates to the website, refreshed FAQs, and future plans to consolidate the LOA home page, currently on the Health Service Channel, into the main HR LOA webpage, further simplifying access.
These enhancements were made possible through close collaboration between the Health Leaves team and IT, enabling employees to focus on delivering exceptional patient care and advancing UC Davis Health’s vision of delivering "tomorrow’s health care today."
