Nurses recognize UC Davis Health’s emergency department as among top 94 in the country

(SACRAMENTO)

The Emergency Nurses Association has recognized UC Davis Health as one of the nation’s top 94 emergency departments for its commitment to quality, safety, and a healthy work environment.

The association’s award was established in 2011 to honor emergency departments that demonstrate “exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.” The award is named in honor of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing who was referred to as the “Lady of the Lamp” for carrying a lantern as she cared for wounded soldiers during the Crimean War.

As part of the application process, emergency departments share stories showcasing their commitment to care and initiatives to safeguard the well-being of nursing staff. The list was published on the Emergency Nurses Association website on July 10.
