Parking Structure 4: Lottery results and next steps

(SACRAMENTO)

With the 48X Complex building now fully occupied and more patients needing parking spaces in nearby Parking Structure 4 (PS4), some employee spaces had to be converted to patient parking, and recently, a lottery was held for the remaining employee spaces in the parking structure.

Parking and Transportation Services recognizes that access to convenient parking can significantly impact your daily work. If you work on the Sacramento Campus, the parking team appreciates the time and effort it can take to park and then still travel from the parking space to your work location.

Last week, Parking and Transportation Services finished the lottery selection process for PS4. Lottery numbers were selected for PS4 parking permits, and they are available for viewing on the Parking and Transportation Services PS4 webpage.

D Parking Permit Lottery Overview for PS4

  • A total of 1,145 employees took part in the PS4 parking permit lottery
  • 800 employee numbers were selected, representing approximately 70% of all submissions
  • Remaining employees will be placed on a waiting list for PS4 permits

Employees whose numbers were chosen have received direct communication from Parking and Transportation Services with details on the next steps and permit activation.

The Parking team understands that these recent changes, planned from the original opening of PS4 and intended to accommodate the expanded patient parking needed for 48X, have created some frustration.

To assist employees who were not selected in the permit lottery, each will receive an email outlining additional parking options, including available spaces in the Aggie Square Garage and in PS7, which now offers expanded shuttle service.

If your number was not chosen

If your lottery number was not selected, you are still being considered. Your name will be added to the PS4 waitlist in the same order as the initial lottery draw. As spots become available, Parking and Transportation Services will contact you directly with additional opportunities.

Additional parking opportunities across the Sacramento Campus

As employees switch to PS4, more parking spaces will become available in other campus structures, creating new opportunities and increased movement for those on facility waitlists.

According to current projections, Parking and Transportation Services expects to provide permits to roughly:

  • 15 employees from the PS3 waitlist
  • 30 employees from the PS1 waitlist
  • 10 employees from the PS2 waitlist

These numbers may change as permits are activated and availability fluctuates. Parking and Transportation Services will continue to share updates as soon as new information becomes available.

PS7 has hundreds of spots open on a daily basis, a new shuttle stop in front of the structure and will have a direct shuttle available to the medical center during employee shift changes.

With the expansion of patient parking in PS4 on March 2, several parking options are immediately available on the Sacramento Campus.

  • Aggie Square Garage: Aggie Square Garage is almost the same walking distance to the main hospital entrances as PS4. Monthly permits for this garage are immediately available to health campus employees for $109 and may be purchased through the HONK app. Daily-rate parking is also available in the Aggie Square garage, and it may be a less expensive option for employees who are not on-site 5 days a week.
  • Parking Structure 7 (PS7): PS7 has hundreds of spaces available each day, at a B-permit rate, and it now has an additional shuttle stop near the garage, with a direct shuttle link to the medical center during shift changes, offering a convenient alternative for travelers during busy times.

There are, of course, several other options available that can eliminate the need to park on campus at all and may also save employees money.

What happens next?

  • Employees whose numbers were selected will receive permit activation instructions directly.
  • Waitlists will update as space becomes available across facilities.
  • Parking and Transportation Services will continue to communicate updates on timelines, availability, and options.
