Shuttle service earns praise from staff after recent changes

Feedback highlights dependable service, friendly drivers and ease of use

(SACRAMENTO)

In late January, employee feedback led to updates in the UC Davis Health campus shuttle service. Parking and Transportation Services introduced a Parking Structure 7 (PS7) Express Shuttle to travel directly between PS7 and the main hospital, with fewer stops, during peak commute hours. This shuttle aims to enhance travel times and minimize delays during shift changes.

Since implementing the PS7 Express Shuttle, Transportation Services has increased its hours of operation to better meet the demand. This shuttle runs from 5 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and again from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In the month-plus following these changes, Parking and Transportation has continued to listen to employees. Here is your latest feedback.

Exceptional Drivers Make a Difference

One employee shared their appreciation for a shuttle driver whose commitment to safety and customer service left a lasting impression:

  • “My shuttle driver today was excellent. I didn’t catch his name [it was James Wilson], but the license plate of the vehicle ended in 602. I wanted to give him a special shout-out. He was very good about verifying everyone’s destinations and his driving was great.”

Another employee said the following:

  • “One of the drivers truly stands out. His name is Mike [Hurley]. He has a great, genuinely positive attitude, and he is professional. I wish every shuttle driver was just like him!”

This attention to detail ensures that all passengers reach their destinations safely and comfortably, reflecting the high standards our drivers set every day.

Another staff member specifically recognized Paul, the night driver:

  • “Paul [Lemus], the night driver, is a caring and kind driver who truly cares about making sure employees get to their cars safely.”

Paul’s commitment to employee safety, especially during late hours, is highly valued and helps foster a sense of trust and security for those using the shuttle.

Improved Reliability and Frequency

Transportation Services tracked and verified shuttles run every five to seven minutes consistently. Several employees noted significant improvements in the reliability and frequency of the shuttle service:

  • “The service is so much better than it was a year or two ago. I’m grateful for the frequency of the shuttles, especially since it’s harder to find parking on campus. In the past, I didn’t find the shuttle to be reliable. Now it is.”

Convenient, frequent pickups make the shuttle a preferred option. This progress reflects ongoing efforts to meet employee needs and adapt to changing campus conditions.

New routes enhance convenience

The recent introduction of a direct route from PS7 to the Main Hospital has also received positive attention:

  • “I appreciate the new direct PS7 to Main Hospital route. Thank you for offering this service.”

By offering more direct and efficient routes, the shuttle service helps employees save time and reduces the stress of commuting.

Continuing to monitor and make changes

While updates to the shuttle service have enhanced reliability, service quality, and convenience for employees, Parking and Transportation will continue to monitor shuttle usage, timing, and stops, adjusting as necessary.

Thank you to all our drivers and staff for their continued commitment to excellence.
