UC, UPTE reach agreement for new contract

(SACRAMENTO)

Over the weekend, UC and the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) reached an agreement for a new contract, and UPTE has withdrawn its strike notice for Nov. 17–18.

At this time, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) union continues to plan for a strike on those dates. The California Nurses Association (CNA) has also announced its intent to participate in a sympathy strike on the same days.

UC’s Office of the President continues to work in good faith to reach a contract with AFSCME and CNA, and remains hopeful about reaching similar agreements before next week’s labor actions.

We recognize these situations can be challenging and appreciate the professionalism and commitment each of you brings to our patients and each other. Our teams are well prepared to maintain safe, exceptional care throughout any labor activity and to minimize disruptions across our hospitals, clinics, and support areas.

Thank you for your dedication, collaboration, and compassion. Moments like these highlight what makes UC Davis Health special: our people and our shared commitment to improving lives and advancing health.

If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to your manager or supervisor. Updates and resources will continue to be shared on The Insider (VPN required if off-campus).
