UC Davis AI chat ‘Rocky’ coming soon to UC Davis Health

Rocky is a free, ChatGPT-based AI assistant developed by UC Davis for the UC Davis community. Designed with campus-specific knowledge, Rocky will soon be available to UC Davis Health faculty and staff.

Developed as a collaboration between the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and Information and Educational Technology (IET), Rocky understands UC Davis policies, resources, and culture—making it more relevant and useful than general-purpose AI tools.

Beginning Jan. 20, Rocky will be available at no cost to UC Davis Health faculty and staff.

How to log in

To access Rocky, sign in using your campus email address (@ucdavis.edu) and Active Directory password.

What can I use Rocky for?

Rocky uses the most recent UC Davis information and provides source citations to help you verify answers and explore topics further. Common use cases include:

  • Decode: Rocky can help new and veteran employees decode the many acronyms that make up the UC Davis professional and academic culture.
  • Navigate: Rocky takes the headache out of the campus parking equation, providing the best parking lot or structure options relative to where you’re going on campus.
  • Connect: Rocky makes finding like-minded groups on campus and getting involved quickly and easily.

Rocky does not use your data to train AI models. The university applies strong security and privacy protections to help mitigate risks associated with AI technologies and to uphold principles and data integrity.

Do not use Rocky to share protected health information (PHI), personally identifiable information (PII), or other sensitive institutional information. As with all large language models, responses may not always be accurate. You should always verify Rocky’s answers.
