UC Davis community celebrates Hendry Ton’s 24 years of service

Members of the UC Davis community gathered Wednesday, Sept. 9, to celebrate the retirement of Hendry Ton, associate vice chancellor for Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence, and recognize his 24 years of service to the university.
The event brought together colleagues, university leaders and community partners to reflect on Ton’s career and his work to advance health equity and inclusive excellence across UC Davis and beyond.
The program included remarks from Chancellor Gary S. May and other UC Davis leaders, as well as Health Equity by Design for Inclusive Excellence leaders and colleagues who worked closely with Ton. A legislative resolution from Sen. Angelique Ashby and certificates from local representatives were also presented in recognition of his contributions.
During the open-microphone portion of the program, colleagues and guests shared memories, gratitude and reflections before Ton offered remarks about his career and retirement.
The gathering celebrated Ton’s impact, recognized the many people and communities connected to his work and reflected on the legacy he leaves at UC Davis. It also underscored the continued commitment to health equity and inclusive excellence that will carry forward beyond his retirement.
