UC Davis Health earns national heart attack center certification
The UC Davis Medical Center is one of only eight hospitals nationwide to receive The Joint Commission’s Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification.

A symbol of excellence in patient care, the designation reflects UC Davis Health’s expertise in diagnosing, treating, and managing heart attacks and its ability to meet rigorous performance standards.
The certification process included a comprehensive onsite review by Joint Commission surveyors, who evaluated the hospital's cardiac program across key areas: program leadership, delivering and facilitating patient care, performance improvement, participation requirements, and clinical outcomes.

Certification from The Joint Commission reflects an outstanding heart attack program that delivers impactful patient care and outcomes. The standards involved in the certification process provide a framework for standardization, reducing variation and risk, and developing a consistent approach to every patient.
The other seven hospitals to receive the Joint Commission’s Comprehensive Heart Attack Center Certification include:
- Geisinger Medical Center (Danville, Pa.)
- Geisinger Community Medical Center (Scranton, Pa.)
- Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.)
- Heartland Regional Medical Center (St. Joseph, Mo.)
