UC Davis Health readers share favorite books to inspire your next read

Earlier this month, UC Davis Health community members were invited to share their most recent favorite book in celebration of National Book Lovers Day.

More than 60 people recommended books across genres including fantasy, historical fiction, memoir, thrillers, literary fiction, nonfiction, romance, public health, social justice and personal growth. Several titles received multiple recommendations, including:

• “Dungeon Crawler Carl” by Matt Dinniman
• “The Women” by Kristin Hannah
• “The Calamity Club” by Kathryn Stockett
• “The Wedding People” by Alison Espach
• “Throne of Glass” by Sarah J. Maas

Readers also shared personal reviews explaining why they valued their chosen books. Many said the stories offered comfort, a new perspective, humor, joy or a brief escape from everyday stress.

Note about the Bookies Book Club: The Bookies Book Club is interdisciplinary, with members from ambulatory care, the library and inpatient care.
