Upcoming Highway 50 closures may affect commute for employees

(SACRAMENTO)

Two construction-related closures on Highway 50 may impact UC Davis Health employees’ commutes.

First, the westbound Stockton Blvd. off-ramp – coming from the direction of Carmichael to Sacramento - will be closed this weekend.

The closure is scheduled for 55 hours, from Friday, March 7, at 9 p.m. to Monday, March 10, at 5 a.m. The westbound on-ramp at Stockton Blvd. will remain open.

Caltrans has provided the following detour map:

Motorists will take the off-ramp to the eastbound Capital City Freeway (Business 80) and exit 71 to N Street. From there, make a slight left to N Street, then turn left to Capitol Avenue. Turn left to 29th Street and take the eastbound US-50 on-ramp to South Lake Tahoe. From there, take the 34th Street exit and turn left.

An alternative would be to exit the freeway at 65th Street and make a left. Then, turn right onto Broadway.

The following weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday, March 14, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, an entire section of eastbound Highway 50 through West Sacramento will be closed. Those coming from Davis through West Sacramento to work will be impacted.

Caltrans provided the following detour map:

Caltrans advises using Business 80 to Interstate 5 or getting off the freeway in West Sacramento at Enterprise Blvd and returning to the freeway at Jefferson Blvd.
