Shannon Romero, M.H.A., B.S.N., R.N.

Associate Chief Nursing Executive, Ambulatory Operations

Romero is the Associate Chief Nursing Executive of Ambulatory Operations at UC Davis Health. She provides strategic and clinical leadership for ambulatory primary and specialty care clinics, overseeing more than 700 clinical staff. Her leadership supports over 1.7 million patient visits annually across 56 clinic sites.

Romero leads initiatives in workforce development, regulatory readiness, and clinical transformation, with a focus on patient-centered care, safety, and innovation. She collaborates with nurse leaders, practice managers and medical directors to drive performance, improve patient outcomes and ensure regulatory compliance. She also serves as the executive representative for the Ambulatory Nurse Governance Council, aligning nursing practice with organizational strategy.

With nearly two decades of experience at UC Davis Health, Romero has held several leadership roles, including Director of Ambulatory Clinical Operations and Division Nurse Practice Manager for the Pain Clinic. She has led major initiatives, including COVID-19 response programs, mobile vaccine clinics, and the restructuring of ambulatory float pool services. Her leadership has been instrumental in preparing the ambulatory division for Magnet recognition and advancing nurse mentorship and succession planning.

Romero holds a Master of Health Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Capella University. She is a recipient of UC Davis Health’s DAISY Award and has been recognized for extraordinary service in pain management.
