Utilization Management and Case Management

Utilization Management decision-making is based only on appropriateness of care and service and existence of coverage. UC Davis Medical Group does not compensate practitioners or other individuals conducting utilization review for denials of coverage or service. There are no financial incentives for Utilization Management decision-makers to encourage denials of coverage or service or that may result in under-utilization of services.

As a member of the UC Davis Medical Group, you have the right to:

  1. Receive information about UC Davis Medical Group, its services, providers and member rights and responsibilities.
  2. A discussion of medically necessary or appropriate treatment options for your condition regardless of costs or benefit coverage.
  3. File a complaint about the care or services you've received at UC Davis Health or by one of the UC Davis Medical Group providers by calling your Health Plan's Member Service Department (see your Evidence of Coverage Booklet) or the UC Davis Health's Patient Relations Department at 800-305-6540.

Language Assistance

All HMO patients in California have the ability to access their health plans for interpreting/translation services at all points of care while receiving health care services.

At UC Davis Medical Center we are fortunate to have the expertise of the staff in the Medical Interpreting Services Department, and therefore most of our patients will have easy on-site access to our medical interpreting staff.
