Same-Day, Next-Day and After-Hours Care in the Sacramento Region for UC Davis Employees
If you are a UC Davis employee, and you get your care through UC Davis Health, there are a number of ways you’re able to access same-day, next-day or after-hours (evenings and weekends) care through sources like UC Davis Health’s expanded Express Care program.
As always, if you are having an emergency, you should either:
- call 9-1-1, or
- go to the emergency department at UC Davis Medical Center, located at 4301 X Street in Sacramento, or
- go the emergency department at the nearest hospital.
Below are options for care situations that are less urgent, but cannot wait until your primary care provider’s office is open and available.
(NEW) Express Care In-Person Visits
Express Care In-Person Visits provide same-day or next-day appointments for common illnesses or injuries that can’t wait for an appointment with regular primary care doctor. For patients ages 6 months and older.

With our convenient Express Care Video Visits (also known as Telehealth Express Care), you can easily connect with UC Davis providers via a smartphone, tablet or computer for same-day and extended hours video visits.

Video Visits or Same-Day Visits
Your regular primary care provider’s office may be able to schedule same-day telehealth video visits with your primary care provider or another provider in your primary care clinic. When available, these visits happen during normal business hours Monday-Friday .
Messages Via MyUCDavisHealth and E-Visits
Messaging your doctor or health care provider through MyUCDavisHealth is one of the many ways we make care convenient. These E-Visits (which may be billed to insurance) are another way to get care from your regular primary care provider for a new issue, concern or symptom.
Through E-Visit messages, your provider can give treatment recommendations, or make a medical assessment, diagnosis, or recommendation for further evaluation or treatment.
Contracted urgent care centers
Contracted urgent care centers accept UC insurance plans, but in most cases, you will need a referral from your primary care clinic to ensure these services are partially covered by your health insurance.

This unique Sacramento clinic diagnoses and treats problems that need a higher level of care than Express Care, but not necessarily an ER visit or hospital stay.

Some examples include IV rehydration, skin infections requiring IV antibiotics, and care for moderate asthma flareups
