In 2006, UC Davis established the UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC).
Residents have opportunities to work with faculty on research ranging from stem cell research in the laboratory, clinical and translational research, and health services research.
Residents have been mentored by faculty to successfully obtain grants, present regionally and nationally, and publish their work. All residents present their scholarly project abstract and poster at our annual UC Davis Pediatric Research Symposium.
Jessica Cheng, M.D., embraced pediatric research during residency. She was involved in 3 studies which led to publications during residency. She was mentored by Dr. Laura Kair on a multi-institutional qualitative study to understand why parents refuse IM vitamin K and a multi-institutional survey of provider practices on using oral vitamin K. She received a resident research grant from the Academic Pediatric Association, mentored by Dr. Jen Rosenthal and Dr. Su-Ting Li, and led a qualitative study on Family Centered Rounds on patients/families with Limited English Proficiency.
