Research Interests:
Clinical pharmacology, pharmacokinetic modeling and simulation, oral anti-cancer therapies, hematological malignancies, interprofessional education.
Practice Philosophy:
I practice evidenced-based medicine to ensure the optimal care of patients receiving anti-cancer therapy. I believe strongly in designing, executing, documenting, and disseminating clinical research findings that can be used to improve the care of cancer patients. Lastly, I am passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and precepting students and residents. I aim to make each learner’s rotation experience personalized to their unique goals, and to provide them thoughtful and actionable feedback to improve their practice.

Bio:
Dr. Ryan Beechinor is originally from Boston, MA and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison majoring in Biochemistry and Philosophy. Dr. Beechinor received his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of California San Francisco (UCSF). During his PharmD, he received the Dean’s Honors’ in Teaching Award, was named Teaching Assistant of the Year, earned the Lisa Chun & Kevin Rodondi Chancellor’s Endowed Scholarship, and was awarded the UCSF Bowl of Hygeia Award. After completion of his PharmD, he went on to complete a PGY1 General Practice Residency and PGY2 Hematology/Oncology Specialty Residency at the University of North Carolina Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC. After completion of his residency, Dr. Beechinor completed a T32 Clinical Pharmacology Fellowship funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH), which was co-sponsored by the UNC Eshleman School of Pharmacy and the Duke Clinical Research Institute (T32GM086330).
Dr. Beechinor is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS), a Board Certified Oncology Specialist (BCOP), and is active in both the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA) as well as the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). He has authored or co-authored >15 peer reviewed publications, he is a panel member/author of the NCCN guidelines for Older Adult Oncology, he serves as a referee for several medical journals, and maintains research collaborations both at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy as well as the UCSF School of Pharmacy. In 2021 he was recognized as the UC Davis Pharmacy Residency Program Research Preceptor of the Year for his contributions towards residency research at UC Davis Health. He is currently a clinical pharmacist at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center. In this pharmacist-driven outpatient clinic, he focuses on providing comprehensive management of patients diagnosed with a hematologic/oncologic malignancy treated with oral anti-cancer therapy.
