New cancer-directed therapies; supportive care for patients with cancer; hematologic malignancies and cellular therapies; operational efficiencies in oncology patient care; impact of oncology pharmacist interventions on optimizing patient care. 

Practice Philosophy:
Oncology pharmacists are patient advocates.  They provide evidence-based oversight to optimize cancer-directed and supportive therapies for patients with cancer.  They ensure that patients are able to obtain their complex and high-cost medications and that they know how to use them.  Oncology pharmacists always have something to offer, whether designing and implementing a precision treatment plan, providing financial assistance for medication procurement or improvement in management of symptoms, patients with cancer benefit from the specialized care of their oncology pharmacists.

Bio:
Andrea Iannucci is a board certified oncology pharmacist (BCOP) and has worked in the UC Davis Health System since 2002.  Andrea has been in her current role as Assistant Chief Pharmacist of Investigational Drugs and Oncology Pharmacy Services since July 2015.  Andrea has served as the Director of the UC Davis Health PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency program since the inception in 2004. Andrea has been involved in teaching pharmacy learners for more than 25 years and is a Clinical Professor with the University of California, San Francisco School of Pharmacy and the UC Davis School of Medicine.  Andrea was recognized by UCSF Pharmacy students at the UCDH site with the Long Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2005 and 2010.

Following completion of her PGY2 Oncology Residency at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, Andrea embarked on her career as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the University of Colorado Pharmacy from 1994 until 1999.  From 1999-2001, Andrea worked as the Director of Clinical Services for the Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, an US Oncology affiliate.  Missing her involvement in direct patient care, Andrea then resumed her oncology clinical pharmacist position at the University of Colorado Hospital in 2001, when she returned to California to work at UC Davis Health.   

Throughout her career, Andrea has been active in oncology and pharmacy professional organizations.  She is a member of HOPA, ASCO, ASTCT and ISOPP.  Andrea has participated in various committee and task force roles with HOPA and served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Society of Health-System Pharmacists.  Andrea has also been very active in the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.  She served as an appointed member of the BPS Board of Directors from 2014-2019, including Chair-Elect, Chair and Immediate Past Chair.  Andrea previously served as an appointed member, vice chair and chair of the Oncology Specialty Council of the BPS from 2002-2007.

Andrea has served as a speaker at various international, national and regional Oncology and Pharmacy conferences.  She has been fortunate to be a regular invited speaker at the annual Clinical Pharmacy Week Conference in Vienna, Austria (2015-2019; virtual in 2020).  Andrea is a regular reviewer for the Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice and has co-authored several articles and book chapters on a variety of oncology topics.  She participates in clinical research activities with physicians, residents and students at UC Davis Health and serves on the Scientific Review Committee for the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.
