Practice Philosophy:
I am a specialist in the management of the poisoned patient. We are surrounded by and encounter poisons every day of our lives. As a specialist, my role is to understand the pathophysiology and symptomatology of different poisonings in order to identify the cause of a patient’s illness and develop a treatment plan to optimize outcomes. The patient’s we manage come in all ages, from newborns to geriatrics, and their associated comorbidities can influence management. We interact with both health care providers and the public, so effective communication skills with a broad demographic is paramount.
Bio:
Dr. Anthony Jiang is a certified specialist in poison information as well as a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist. He is a senior pharmacist and toxicology management specialist at the Sacramento division of the California Poison Control system. Dr. Jiang began his pharmacy career at the poison center in 2017 after completing his Acute Care PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at UC Davis Medical Center. Prior to that he attended the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy.
In addition to his role answering consults from all across the state of California, Dr. Jiang provides precepting and teaching to fourth year pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.
